Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Charges

The charging documents outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the relevant police force.
