Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Exacerbates England's Fitness Concerns.

'Serious blow' for England after Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

The pace bowler increased the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the playing area during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test in the Ashes series.

The pace bowler pulled up with his left hamstring post-delivery that he bowled on Saturday.

The touring camp indicated Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and was to take time off the field in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The series decider in this Ashes battle beginning on 4 January starts at the end of the week.

England have already lost fast bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and another paceman to a side strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party as injury reinforcement.

Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was left out from the previous Test, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

Atkinson improved at the MCG, claiming a couple of wickets during the host's first knock, and scoring 28 runs with the bat being one of only three teammates to get into double digits.

After bowling one over at the end of day one, he came back for the second day's play and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.

However, towards the conclusion of the fifth over, he bowled a slower ball to the batsman and suddenly grabbed at his leg.

Atkinson returned to the side for the Boxing Day Test having missed the previous Test.
