Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the fluid was likely blood from a person.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for tips.
An important official commented the incident made him speechless and had to be solved promptly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right attack five years ago," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
